Mit der offiziellen Deklaration des demokratischen Konföderalismus durch die kurdische Demokratiebewegung wird seit dem Jahr 2005 in den verschiedenen Teilen Kurdistans der Aufbau von demokratischen Selbstverwaltungsstrukturen vorangetrieben. Mit der Revolution in Rojava im Zuge des Arabischen Frühlings wird dieses Konzept erstmals praktisch auf solch einem Niveau angewendet. Das demokratische Gesellschaftsprojekt, das auf der Grundlage des organisierten Frauenbefreiungskampfes, Ökologie, demokratischem Sozialismus und demokratischem Konföderalismus basiert versteht sich aus der Makroperspektive als Teil des demokratischen Wiedererstand gegen die kapitalistische Moderne. Die Revolution steht für eine Alternative gegen Aggression, Kolonialismus, Nationalismus, Sexismus.
In europäischen Diskussionen um Alternativen zu Neoliberalismus und demokratischer Widerstand erachten wir es für wichtig, über den europäischen Tellerrand hinauszuschauen und Paradigmen mit emanzipatorischem Anspruch aufzugreifen.
In diesem Sinne möchten wir in unserem Workshop das Konzept des demokratischen Konföderalismus vorstellen und der Frage nachgehen welche Prinzipen für Kämpfe in Europa zu übertragen wären. Wir wollen gemeinsam auch über praktische Formen des Internationalismus diskutieren.

Under the conditions of the AKP regime in Turkey and in the midst of the Syrian civil war, people from different ethnic groups are trying together to set up a social organization that will enable a good life for all. With a system of councils that begin in the neighbourhoods and continue until to production, the social processes are to be regulated according to useful criteria. Patriarchal structures and sexist violence are being tackled in particular. This fight is fought first and foremost by its own women's councils. Following the concept of democratic confederalism of Abdullah Öcalan the aim is to overcome the nation state and capitalism in favour of a grassroots democratic society.
